How do I plug the cable with my HDTV Ready LCD TV?
I used to use this TV to play games and sorts, and recently ive got my cable and realize that there’s no plug for it. Duh….According to the manual, it says that the cable should connect with a DVD player, and then using a HDMI to connect TV and DVD player. And my dvd does not have a cable plug….
Here’s the model of the tv, 32″ Syntax-Olevia 332H HDTV Ready LCD TV. I will be very appreciate if you can help me.

A HD-Ready TV is one that lacks a TV tuner – which is why it doesn’t have an input for your cable.
So, you will need to plug the cable into something with a TV Tuner in it – like a VCR (the manual goofed – DVD players don’t have tuners) or maybe a DVD-Recorder. You can also get a cable box from your cable provider for $5/mo. Note that if you want HD cable channels (like Discovery Channel HD) you will need their cable box anyways. Or, if you switch to satellite, they’ll give you a tuner box that you will connect to your TV.
In general, use the best possible cable connection available. From lowest to highest these are:
* composite video – yellow RCA cable for video, red&white RCA cables for audio (stereo only) – almost everything supports this but isn’t the best quality picture out there.
* S-Video – black round connector with 3 pins sticking out of it, and the same red&white audio cables. Much better edges and black levels.
* Component Video – set of 3 RCA cables (red, green, blue) for video, red&white audio cables for stereo. MUCH better picture than S-video. Also *required* for HDTV. Check your TV’s manual for what resolutions are supported (usually, 720p, 1080i and SOMETIMES 1080p)
* HDMI – single connector for both video AND audio. Unlike the others, HDMI can also carry surround sound data, as well as plain old stereo sound. HDMI also supports HD resolutions. Most newer TVs have at least one HDMI port. This will be the new standard going forward.
* TOSLINK/optical audio/Digital COAX – as the name implies, these are audio cables. These are used to connect things like a DVD player to your surround sound system if you aren’t using HDMI for audio. It is possible to connect a device’s video cords and audio cords to separate places – for instance, my DVD player’s video goes to the TV, but the audio goes to my receiver so I can use the surround sound. I don’t even use the red&white stereo cables at all.
