Are schools allowed to have hidden cameras in classrooms?
My school is going to be having cameras in classrooms and I’ve heard people say that they can’t legally hide cameras in classrooms…supposedly they are supposed to be getting hidden camera clocks is that legal for them to do?
I don’t know where you are, but if you are in the US then yes, it is legal. There is a doctrine called “reasonable expectation of privacy”. A classroom is a public place and no one there has any reasonable grounds to believe that they are acting or speaking in private. There cannot be cameras in places where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as a bathroom, for example.
