Belkin FastCat 5e Ethernet cable problems
I just bought a Belkin FastCat 5e Patch Cable Model #R7J604 and now Im having some problems. When I plug the cable into my computer it says “local area connection is now connected” as it should. So I open up my internet and it wont work. Even though it says Local Area is connected the internet wont work. Im thinking its a bad driver so i go and check the driver and it turns out the driver is called “Broadcom integrated controller”. I was a little skeptical about a Broadcom Driver being used with a belkin product. So i went to the Belkin site but couldnt find my cable in their product section. I then went to the Broadcom site but couldnt find it there either! My pride has been damaged as im pretty good with technology but I cant seem to figure this out. So here I am at my last attempt, I hope you can help.

My Wireless Internet Connection Works
Looking at yuor part number, I think you purchased a crossover cable, which wont work , you need a straight CAT5e cable for it to work with a switch or router.
A crossover cable is designed to link 2 computers directly.
The info displayed on your computer regarding Broadcom is totally correct, the acble does not show any info as the computer dont care about make/part no.
